Welcome to The Building Place! We are Hannah and Daniel, a husband-and-wife team on a mission to bring playful learning to schools and families across Chicago.
Our story started at home. Daniel is a lifelong LEGO® lover, but the real magic happened when we saw our two boys discover the joy of hands-on building. The endless possibilities they found in those little bricks inspired them—and their passion inspired us!
Our programming combines classic STEAM principles and unique creative challenges to make every experience unforgettable. Whether we’re popping into a classroom, celebrating a birthday, or just building something new, we’re here to create a community of young builders.

What's up next?
January–March: In-School Classes
We'll be bringing our afterschool program to Rogers Park Montessori School and Irving Park Homeschool Group. Weekly classes based around official LEGO® Education materials make learning a snap!
March–May: Build & Brunch workshops
Every Sunday from March 7th to May 30th, we'll be hosting creator workshops at Andersonville's Bramble Arts Loft. Kids get a morning of creativity, and adults get time to explore historic Clark Street. What's not to love?

March: Mythical Creatures & Magic
In this month-long series, you’ll create a never-before-seen creature, design a legendary monster lair, build an enchanting official LEGO® set, and customize your very own The Building Place magic wand.
April: Brick Art & Whimsical Worlds
In this month-long series, you’ll recreate the work of a real-world artist, design a vibrant mosaic masterpiece, build an artistic official LEGO® set, and customize your very own The Building Place nameplate.
May: Creative Cruisers & Custom Rides
In this month-long series, you’ll engineer your dream car and test it on the ultimate crash ramp, design a treacherous obstacle course, open up a high-speed official LEGO® vehicle set, and customize your very own The Building Place license plate.
